Some Poems
Love Gathers
A table set
Plates and silverware glimmer
Candles aglow
Cloth napkins tied with a bow
Pups afoot
Music playing soft & low
Stuffed mushrooms
Sparkling drinks held high for toasting
A dinner robust
Every bite a sensation
Warm smiling faces
From years of knowing
Laughter and joy
Remembering what matters
Love gathers us here
We are nourished by its grandeur

Into the Next Horizon
At first light, I drift beyond the edges of habit
I’ve stepped off course
feeling oddly and somberly adrift
An urge to paddle, swim, or do something
to get myself to shore,
disquiets me.
I see the ruts of routine at the water’s edge
as they slowly and
eternally wash away.
Grooves of time that kept me moving always in
a predefined direction,
no longer call my name
I wonder, what is it left on shore
to provide direction
for me now
On shore, there are no furrows I can carve
that haven’t already, exhaustingly
been dug
It is now, out here in the jostling waves,
afloat on the sea of unknown purpose
that I must find my new course
I, will align myself with the sun, moon, and stars
scheming to plot my new path,
and once more, I will find my way
